The Brand

Gimme seaweed is a family-owned company that is run by a genuine passion for producing healthy snacks that are superfoods that have a great taste. After growing, starting, and selling their first food company – Chun Annie a leading Asian food brand in America, they wanted to do it again.

During the year 2011, the family gathered around the table to brainstorm the idea of their teenage daughter Mia. Mia thought it would be great to start selling roasted delicious seaweed in different flavors. The family has loved roasted seaweed for years and so they decided to start the company. GimMe was birthed in 2012 as the first global non-GMO and USDA certified organic project verified seaweed snacks. Mia was also the brain behind the name gimMe which is the Korean word for seaweed.

The founders of gimMe are Annie Chun and Steve Broad. Annie Chun was bred in Korea, the home of some of the world’s best seaweed. Annie had knowledge and expertise in Korean culture and Asian cooking. Annie’s culinary journey began in the Northern part of California where she made and sold Asian sauces. Annie has been awarded multiple times and accolades through her twenty-five years of being in business. Steve Broad also grew up in Northern California and learned how food tastes better when it is grown fresh and natural. Steve has always been with Annie from the beginning, tasting recipes and pushing the business forward. Steve inputs his business experience, management, and sales skills to gimMe to keep it running smoothly.

Provides protective antioxidants

Antioxidants are necessary for getting rid of free radicals that may be a potential cause of harm in the body. This free radical may also be the cause of diseases like diabetes and heart disease

Seaweed also boasts of some beneficial plant compounds including carotenoids and flavonoids. These compounds protect the body from damage caused by free radicals.

Several research focuses on carotenoid known as fucoxanthin. This carotenoid is found in the brown type of algae-like wakame. Fucoxanthin protects the membrane of the cell more than vitamin A. However absorption of fucoxanthin is smooth so consuming fat along to aid absorption.

Nevertheless, the plant compounds in seaweed are of several varieties that have powerful antioxidant effects.

Improves gut health

Seaweed has polysaccharides and fiber that has a vital role to play in the gut bacteria. Science has told us that there are more bacteria than human cells in the body. An imbalance of bad and good bacteria may result in diseases and sickness.

Seaweed has excellent fiber that promotes the health of the gut. This fiber is said to make up twenty-five to seventy-five percent of the dry weight of seaweed. This amount is higher than the fiber found in most vegetables and fruits.

Fiber can resist digestion. It is also a source of food for the bacteria living in your large intestine. Also, the sugar in seaweed which is referred to as sulfated polysaccharide is shown to elevate the growth of gut bacteria, the good ones. The polysaccharides will increase short fatty acid production that provides nourishment and support for the gut cell lining.

I love seaweed but live 100 miles away from the health food store. I can’t always get it when I’d like to eat some. It’s been nice to have it in my pantry and the cost is perfect! Love it and so do my kids! Amazing health benefits and glad amazon stocks this.

I’d tried seaweed snacks before by another brand and couldn’t stand it. I love sushi but had never been a fan of eating just nori on its own. I bought these for a recipe and I decided to try a pack right out of the box. They’re delicious! I ate an entire pack before I’d realized it. I got the sea salt flavor and now I’m dying to try the others. Yes, it has a seaweed taste, but it’s better than just regular toasted nori. The salt kind of cuts a little of the seaweed taste, but it’s not *too* salty. I highly recommend others give it a try!

I have tried man seaweed snacks and these by far take the cake as the BEST ones. There is just enough oil, not too much but it’s not dry at all either. And it is just the right amount of salt as well. Not too salty and just the right amount of flavor. My children also LOVE this snack. It does taste slightly fishy but also a little nutty as well. Great flavor and great low-calorie snack!

my only gripe is that I wish they were saltier. these are a great little snack, perfect crunch, good size. I typically eat 2 packs of them since they are only 25 calories for one package. a good alternative to a carb or potato chip that still has an initial loud crunch. make no mistake, this is seaweed and has such a flavor, but it’s not fishy or smelly or offputting in any way. ill be buying these regularly. great product.

I love this Organic Roasted Seaweed. Have tested other brands and nothing can compare to the taste by, gimMe Snacks.

Just a little side note, you will see a Lil bit of oil in the sealed wrap.

I did not like this at all. I like the ones from Costco better. I tried to return these and was told I was unable to because certain foods are not able to be returned especially if it is an Amazon product, which this one is. I will not be buying food products from here again.

Honestly, I’ve never had seaweed before, so I didn’t know what to expect. It tastes like straight fish and I hated it! Couldn’t eat one chip. I guess it’s an acquired taste lol

Be careful! I always buy this seaweed from Whole Foods and this was my first time ordering from here and they tasted like petroleum and plastic. The packaging also looks a little different. The one from the right is from the whole food and the left one is the one from here.

I love seaweed snacks but did not like these. They are too oily and not crispy. Go with Wickedly Prime instead.

These are the most disgusting things ever! I bought a whole box and took 2 bites (gave it 2 chances) and threw the rest away.
